When it comes to food, we are evangelistic about our seasons! We love crafting mouth-watering dishes with the freshest of flavours when they are at their best. As part of The Provenance Collections of inns and hotels, the ‘provenance’ of our ingredients is important to our ethos of sourcing locally, from quality providers and when mother nature intended. Our mission is simple; to create consistently excellent food with the taste of the season all at exceptional value. Why not come and try it for yourself? We would love to wow you!

Without wanting to blow our own trumpet, we love that our ‘heart-of-the-village’ pub, here in the beauty of North Yorkshire is not only award-winning on a national scale but combines this easily with the warmth of your trusted local. It has to be said that our dishes are crafted with so much care and attention, you cannot fail to be impressed. But it’s the combination of a friendly, quality service, an outstanding seasonal menu, exceptional value and our beautiful venue that gives us the edge.

We’re just a stone’s throw from the historic city of York, on the doorstep of the National Parks and a firm favourite with dog walkers, tourists as well as locals.
